Standard Type 3 Chisel Set

This is my Standard Type 3 chisel set. The set comprises of three chisels, 1 x 14mm Square, 1 x 12mm Round, and 1 x Detail Chisel with long handles. As with my other chisels the bar is 6 inch bright steel and the handle is 14 inch solid beech.

The chisels are made to the same quality as my other chisels but have my new standard type cutters. These cutters have a flat profile and a razor sharp edge. They are aimed to make it easier for the new turner and equally a very useful addition for the experienced. The cutter enables the chisel to be presented flat to the work piece giving the ability to plunge straight into the wood, much the same as other standard carbide chisels around (costing over 3 times the amount). I have used these cutters and find they are very easy to use and give a very clean cut and finish. These would be ideally used in conjunction with my other carbide chisels.
